This project brings together expertise from five European partners who will design and deliver an elective, innovative programme of higher apprenticeships in STEM training and employment sectors. This partnership is central to successful delivery and relies on proactive participation and regular involvement of each partner.

AVL | Austria

 

AVL is the world's largest privately owned, independent company for the development, simulation and testing of technology for powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and for large engines. In order to maintain global leadership in powertrain development as well as instrumentation, test systems and simulation technologies, the three business divisions of AVL continuously invest in massive in-house research programmes. This includes a wide range of co-operations with industry and more than 50 universities on national and international level. AVL has more than 50 years of experience in developing young talents, since 1961 hundreds of apprentices have been trained through practice-focused training, combined with the communication of theoretical subject knowledge and social skills. Overall a wide variety of training and further training measures is offered focusing on personality, communication, culture, health, work safety, quality management, time- and self-management and much more besides.

KlaipÄ—dos ValstybinÄ— Kolegija State University of Applied Sciences | Lithuania

KlaipÄ—dos ValstybinÄ— Kolegija (KVK) is the third largest university of applied sciences in Lithuania with a strong academic reputation. The initial target of KVK is ensuring a high quality of academic teaching and research facilities. KVK focuses on study programmes that lead to a profession and are practice orientated so that students are able to successfully apply their knowledge in a real working environment. 

KVK consists of three faculties: Business, Technologies and Health Sciences where study programmes, research, projects and consulting activities take place in modern facilities, laboratories, libraries and training facilities. It has an Erasmus University Charter and is an active participant in Erasmus+ Programmes.

City College Plymouth | UK

City College Plymouth is leading the way in the innovation and internationalisation of Apprenticeships with this talent programme. With over thirty years of experience in delivering award-winning Apprenticeships, the College is spearheading a European partnership of Apprenticeship educators and private companies through this innovative ‘talent programme’ for Higher Apprenticeships in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) sectors in order to stretch and challenge high-performing trainees. The ‘European Apprenticeship Talent Programme’ (EATAP) is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ initiative and builds on the College’s experience of sharing best training practices across borders.

City College Plymouth is a leading provider of innovative, technical and professional education and training, with a reputation for promoting enterprise, employability and science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). It offers a wide range of training from age 14 years old upwards, from entry level to professional courses and postgraduate qualifications. STVG | Austria

​

The Styrian Association for Education and Economics (STVG) is an educational institution with the central focus on "education and economics” that makes a sustainable impact through entrepreneurial, economically and industrially oriented education at a local and regional level, with numerous national and European co-operation.

The team at STVG combines diverse expertise from practitioners and academics with project management at local, regional, national and European levels. We particularly focus on interfaces and transitions between initial education, training, work, career and vocational guidance, management skills, entrepreneurship education, support and social systems with training policy involvement at local, provincial and federal level.

Main activities are addressed at the interfaces between initial school education, secondary and postsecondary vocational stages, especially dual training and other forms of work-based learning education for young adults, introducing them to the concept of lifelong learning.  This develops an economic and technology-oriented culture throughout the education system and transports essential messages and insights on business and industry throughout the education system, into society in a European and global context. A core element of the expertise of STVG is the interface between the education system and the world of work, with the scope being from a local level through to the national, European and international.

STVG is striving for maximum synergy and coordination between all relevant parties and attaches great importance to sustainable, synergetic cooperation with all relevant partners in their fields of action at all levels.

MVV Energie AG | Germany

​

The publicly listed MVV Energie Group is one of Germany’s leading energy companies who offer attractive, sustainable jobs to around 6,300 employees at the local and regional companies within their Group. As a company, MVV Energie are influenced by their origins, as majority owner, the City of Mannheim guarantees stability and close links between the company, local councils, and the people supplied with energy and water. MVV are a fixed part of the local community at all of their locations and are involved in supporting sport, culture, social welfare, science and education. Their energy from waste activities are of nationwide significance, as one of the leading players in Germany, MVV Energie are also expanding our activities abroad, notably in the UK (Plymouth was the first city in the UK to have an MVV Energie waste to energy plant) and the Czech Republic. Activities in this business field all began at the cogeneration plant on Friesenheim Island in Mannheim. Fourteen years ago, MVV Energie started a program for Talent development in the area of apprentices. Today this is one of the most modern development programs you can find in Germany for the development of motivated apprentices. Each year 5 to 8 apprentices from the second year start for one year with this program. It is project oriented and has its focus on personal development, team spirit, performance in a team and project management (with a high degree of autonomy). Additional elements are language training and Internationalisation - currently to City College Plymouth where since 2013, MVV have sent their Talent Group to City College Plymouth for a predefined, 3-week project- based -learning Higher Education research training as part of the Internationalisation aspect to the talent programme.
